Augustana Lutheran Church of Andover was built in the 1860’s when the faithful congregation of Swedish immigrants quickly outgrew the nearby Jenny Lind Chapel. We are extremely proud of our ‘Cathedral on the Prairie’. Please explore our website to learn more. Then come and join us to experience first-hand the Church and the members who serve here.

The end of our Lenten Journey is near, as today we follow Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem with a procession of our own! The shouts of praise this day may feel bittersweet, as they will be followed by betrayal, denial, and Jesus’s passion later this week. This is the introduction to the story of holy week in which we will accompany Jesus to the cross with both grief and thanksgiving in our hearts, trusting in God’s redeeming love through all of the story.
Maundy Thursday – April 2nd
Potluck prior to worship at 6pm – Bring a dish to share!
Worship with Holy Communion at 7pm
This evening our Lenten observance comes to an end, and we gather with Christians around the world to celebrate the Three Days of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Remembering Christ’s last meal with his disciples and Christ’s command to love, we will gather for a meal before worship. During the service, we will celebrate those coming to the holy meal of communion for the first time. Departing worship in solemn silence, we anticipate the coming days between Christ’s death and resurrection.
Good Friday – April 3rd
Service of Word and Prayer at 7pm
In this solemn worship of word and prayer, we will read the story of Jesus’s passion and gradually extinguish candles to mark Christ’s suffering and death. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the cross around which we assemble is really a tree of life. We leave in silence, anticipating the gift of the resurrection on Easter morning.
Easter Sunday – April 5th
Worship with Holy Communion at 10:30 am
Today Christ is risen, and we gather together with astonishment and joy. Christ is risen, and we have been set free from the bonds of death. Christ is risen, and we are forgiven. Christ is risen, and with the women at the tomb and Peter, we are amazed. Let us rejoice: Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
